AGPA MINUTES

June 11, 2007

 

Meeting started at 6:30pm

 

Parents in Attendance: Cathy Kerner, Rene Fitch, Carl Carlson, Eugene McCall, Michael York, Chess  DeSouza, Marlin White

 

Approval of Minutes for May:  We did not have the minutes from May to approve – May and June Minutes will be approved at July 9th meeting.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Murphy was not in attendance, an email will be sent with the report.

 

Bank account signers:  Kerner will switch signers at the bank after checks from leotards go through.

 

Level 1-3 Meet July 7th: Fitch and DeSouza will Run concessions and raffle.

 

Non-Profit Update: Kerner was told by the IRS Non-Profit contact that we should hear about or receive a status on our  Non-Profit in about 2 weeks.

 

Team Roster/Team Contact list:  Contact list needs to be made for Parents.  Parents will be contacted by Fitch for Phone numbers and emails.

 

Ice Cream Social with Cheerleaders:  It was mentioned that it could be a fundraiser.  Money would be split between Cheer and Gymnastics.  Cost possibly - $1 per person.  Open to anyone.  Possible dates were June 25th or June 28th.   Kerner will talk to Cheer head and Annie Baker about changing dates to August.

 

OPEN ITEMS:

 

Pizza Thursdays:  Pizza has been a good money maker for Parents.  All dates are now taken.  Dates and Parents are as follows:  June 21st – Marlin White  June 28th – Rene Fitch    July 12th – Michael York   July 26th – Carl Carlson    There will be no pizza on June 14th, July 5th, July 19th    Cheer will be starting to sell pizza or nachos in August.

 

September 9th Meet:  York mentioned concern about planning for Sept. meet.  At July 9th meeting this will be discussed and additional meet planning days will be discussed. 

 

Meets in General: It was brought up that children/Gymnasts should not be handling money at meets.  Raffles were questionable.  If parents sign up for a position, the parent will get points for positions.  If Gymnasts sign up (timers, award presenters, march out and some other positions) they are volunteering time towards their sport.

 

Scoring System/Pro Score program: Questions were brought up about this system. Possibility of problems with system, location of set up, if anyone besides Vince knew how to run it or set it up.  What would happen if Vince was away.  This topic will be touched upon again.

 

Fundraising:  Fitch brought in some fundraising ideas.  Fitch will be sending an email out to find out who would be interested in fundraising.  Possibilities are Candy, chocolate bars, popcorn, beef jerky, and some other options. 

 

York looked into the bowling alley fundraising Raffle that cheerleading did.  Bowling alley is no longer doing fundraising raffles.

 

Once we find out more about our non-profit number, fundraisers like Fresh Choice and Baja Fresh will be looked into.

 

Gymnastics day Carnival (Gymnastics and Cheer will split)  Kerner has to be discuss with Baker. 

 

Advertising:  Fitch will contact her contact at work regarding advertising the Sept. 9th meet on KUIC and possibly having them attend our meet.

 

White mentioned Aerials parents club should try to join Vacaville Chamber of Commerce if possible. 

 

It was mentioned that we should contact Newspapers, Grapevine, Community Kids newspaper and possibly posting flyers about events that Aerials Parents club hosts.

 

Murphy will be asked about the donation of Coke products for next meet.  If  Murphy doesn’t know, McConnie will be contacted about the Coke product contact.
