AGPA MINUTES

January 7th, 2008

Meeting started at 6:35pm

Parents in Attendance: Rene Fitch, M.J. Clay,  Chess  DeSouza,  Kathy Bull, Heather Markovich, Marcia Buslett,  Melissa Black, Liza Alsbury, Angela Patterson, Annie Baker, Julie Collette, Cathy Kerner, Suzanne Murphy and Becky Negrillo..

Approval of Minutes for December:   Motion was made to approve minutes for December.   Rene Fitch made the first motion, Melissa Black made the second motion.

Treasurer’s Report:  Suzanne Murphy reported that the balance of the general fund was $5317.35.

Choreography Fees:  The parents in attendance voted that you can use your Aerials account to pay for choreographer fees.  The choreographer is not considered tuition.

Nacho/Pizza Sales: January is our month to sell nachos and pizza.  A sheet has been passed around with dates to sign up.  Carl Carlson is selling on Jan. 10th, Rene Fitch is selling on the 17th, Angela Patterson is selling on the 24th and Becky Negrillo is selling on the 31st.  We will be selling food again in March.

Meet Fees and Registrations:  Tanya has okayed that meet fees can be done by the Parents Club again.  Jen Pero originally said that she would take responsibility for it.  The Parents Club will ask Jen Pero again if she would like to take this on again

Aerials Winter Invitational meet:  It will be held on Saturday January 26th and it is ONE session only! 12:00 to probably 4:00  There are only 49 gymnasts and 33 are from Aerials.  A sign up sheet is posted on the board by the gymnast folders.

Set up will be on Friday night and tear down will follow the meet. Since this is such a small meet no credits will be earned, all jobs will be on a volunteer basis!  We are in need of Parent sign ups and more than one parent per position.  We have to work together so we can work and watch our kids compete.  On the sign up sheet there is only room for 1 name, but please if its what you want to sign up for still sign up for it!  Also, in the past we have had the gymnasts do the vault, floor, bars, and beam timer, but since the girls will be performing we will need parents to do that as well.

Woodward Gymnastics Camp has donated a $300 off coupon to raffle for our meet in January.  We will sell raffle tickets for $5 each.

Camp Woodward:  As a gym, we will be attending Camp Woodward July 13th -19th.  If we pay by February, we will get $50 per camper and if we have at least 20 campers, we can receive and additional $50 off.  That could bring our fees down to $725 per person.   If you would like to sign up to go to camp during those dates, A sign up/interest sheet will be placed on the team board so we can have a head count of campers.  If you would really like to attend but cannot make those dates, please let Rene Fitch know.  That date was decided by 14 parents, due to holiday driving the week before.

Mini Meet January 5th:  Only 12 kids signed up for the mini-meet.  That was not enough to have concessions available.

OPEN ITEMS:

UCLA Meet:  If you are attending the UCLA meet, the original hotel is being worked on and cannot be stayed in.   The new hotel will be the 4 Points Sheraton.  It is still in the same city and should not affect your price.  For any questions, Please contact Kathy Bull or check the team board for more info on this.

Accountant to review our records:  Kathy Bull has been looking into opportunities to bring our parents club to the next level and would like to get corporate sponsors.  Currently she has been talking with Aerials accountant, it was suggested that we try a different accountant, possibly Lea Garrity from the level 4 team.  More discussion about this topic was made but agreed that it would be talked about again at a different meeting.

See’s Candy:  See’s candy was not discussed at this meeting.  31 boxes are still available for sale and will remain an open item.

Storage:  Storage was not discussed at this meeting but will remain an open item.

Escrip:  Suzanne has filled out the paperwork for the escrip program and Chess DeSouza has mailed it off.  We should have an escrip account number by the next meeting.  Escrip can help us have a continuous flow of small income coming into our account.  Parents, Friends and Relatives can help earn money without doing anything except shop at the same places they do already.  More info to come at the next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40pm

Next Meeting:  Monday – February 4th,   6:30pm  Aerials Staff Room

All boys and girls gymnast parents are welcomed and encouraged to come!
